When to assign a head

Assign a head when one person has responsibility for a unit's performance work. Assign an acting head when that responsibility is temporary, such as leave, reassignment, or short-term cover.

Replacing a unit head

End the outgoing assignment, add the incoming head, and decide what should happen to any active work.

  • Completed records should stay with the person who completed them.
  • New records should be created for the incoming head when new responsibilities begin.
  • Only reassign active records when there is a clear business reason.
  • Record the reason so future reviewers understand what changed.

Why records do not move automatically

A performance record is evidence of responsibility at a point in time. Moving it silently can make the record confusing. Alignis keeps the record with the original person unless an authorized user deliberately changes the route.
