What policy controls
The appraisal policy controls scoring sections, rating thresholds, and sign-off rules. It should reflect how your organization actually reviews performance.
When the Head of Organization is involved
Some organizations do not require another internal reviewer above the Head of Organization. Others use a chairperson, board, ministry, or other authority for final sign-off. Configure the policy to match that reality.
- Employees supervised by the Head of Organization can finish after the Head signs, if that is your rule.
- Add another final sign-off officer only when your organization requires one.
- The Head of Organization's own appraisal can have no supervisor, a selected supervisor, no final sign-off officer, or a selected final sign-off officer.
Changing policy later
Policy changes should affect new or recalculated routing. Records already in progress should remain understandable and should not lose their history.
